Voluntary work Cusco, Peru 6 days / 5 nights
Day 1
We will pick you up at your hotel to travel south to the district of Pitumarca. This trip is 2 hours long. Then, you will be accommodated in the family houses. Later, we will visite the handcraft center of the Inka Pachacutek community where we will be able to get to know the different types of traditional fabric. Then, we will have lunch at the center and in the afternoon, there will be a meeting with the villagers to get acquainted with them. Finally, we will return to our families.
Day 2
After breakfast, we go visit another community of weavers, then we will visit different communities who are dedicated to agriculture and livestock. We’ll have lunch with the families, then we will have the opportunity to follow them in their daily lives. At sunset, we go back to our families.
Day 3
Breakfast with the families. During the course of this day, we will pick plants that are used by craftsmen to create their dye, their textiles and clothing. We return home to spend the night with our families.
Day 4
Breakfast with our families. On this day, we will visit a camelid’s breeding (llamas, alpacas). We will be able to observer the ritual to the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the ritual breeding of the alpacas. Return to the families.
Day 5
Breakfast with the families. Then, we can go for a swim in the thermal waters of the community of Uchullucllo. Later, we will have the chance to enjoy a traditional meal. We return to Pitumarca for the night.
Day 6
We will visit the archaeological complex of Machupitumarca then we will cross the colonial bridge of Checacupe. Finally, we will make our way back to the town of Cusco.
